Miniature Pull Toy Kit Assembly

A miniature toy horse being pulled by a hand with a blurred background.

This miniature supply pack makes two tiny antique style pull toy figurines.  With tiny horses on little wooden platforms with applied wheels, they are perfect for decorating a dollhouse or making a Christmas diorama.

You may paint and decorate these any way you like.  The horses come plain white, and the wheels are red. The instructions here will show how to achieve the aged-antique look.

To assemble, you will need super glue, paint, a paper towel, and paint brushes.

Step 1: Paint the horse.

Tips for painting:
- Use acrylic paints designed for plastic.
- Slightly thinned paint will help to retain the fine details.
- Do not hold the horse by the tail as it can break off. Hold by one leg to paint, then set it down to paint the final leg.
- To achieve an antique look, first paint a base coat in cream. Let dry. Then, sweep thinned dark brown paint over the whole surface, and use a paper towel to wipe it away, leaving the darker paint just in the crevices and details. Dab brown paint on the hooves. Let dry.

Step 2: Paint the platform.

The platform is made of MDF board, and has been laser cut. It may have some mottled burn marks along the edges from cutting.  Paint the platform in the color of your choice. Let dry.

Step 3: Attach the pull cord.

Wet the end of the brown thread and feed it through the hole in the platform.  If you have trouble feeding it through, use a fine sewing needle.
- Tie a knot around the end of the platform.
- To make a small bead at the end of the pull cord, knot the thread 3-5 times in one spot.
- Snip off the excess thread from either end.

Step 4: Attach the wheels.

- Dot super glue on the sides of the platform at equal points near the ends, and press on the wheels.

Step 5: Attach the Horse

-Dot super glue on the undersides of all four hooves. Press the horse onto the platform.
