Part 1:
Felt Gown & Arms
- Use the template to cut out the gown and sleeve piece from the felt.
- Set the paper cone on the edge of the felt gown shape. Roll it up to check that the entire surface of the cone will be covered, and reposition if needed. Hold the cone in place, run a 2” bead of glue along the lower edge of the cone, and press onto the center point of the felt. At the back, glue one side down, securing it to the cone. Overlap the felt, and glue down the other side.
- Trim the lower edge of the felt flush with the cone. Then, cut off the top 1/2 inch of the tip of the cone and felt.
- Glue the head to the flat top of the cone with the felt seam at the back.
- Lay the pipe cleaner along the length of the felt sleeve piece. Glue it down at the center. Fold in the ends of the pipe cleaner, leaving about 1/2 inch extending past either end of the felt. These will be the hands.
- Apply a line of glue all the way around the top edge of the felt sleeve piece, and then fold it over the pipe cleaner, encasing it in the sleeves. Press along the edges until the glue sets.
- Glue the arms to the back of the gown, just under the head.
- Fold the ribbon sash in half at the center, and glue to the back of the gown just under the arms. Bring the ribbon tails around to the side, tie a knot, and trim the length. Tack down the tails with small dots of glue.
Part 2:
Hair & Candle Crown
- Cut two 4” lengths of curly yellow chenille. Fold them in half and glue the folded ends to the top of the head. Bring these pieces around the sides of the face, tack down with glue, and add the red string ties to make them look like braids. Use the remaining curly chenille to cover the rest of the head in a coil or zig zag pattern, and glue it in place. Trim any excess.
- Arrange the green trim around the top of the head to make a wreath, twist the ends together twice at the back, and snip off the excess. Secure the wreath to the head with dots of glue. Snip off the red berries from the wire stems, dab the ends with glue, and press into the wreath.
- Dab the bottom of each candle with a dot of glue and press into the inner rim of the wreath. Hold each candle vertically until the glue sets.
Part 3:
Saffron Buns
- Arrange the saffron buns on the plate and glue them in place. Bend and pose the arms in front of the body, bringing the hands together at the front. Dab glue on the hands, and then press the plate onto the hands.
